A new website allows users to download public government information, which they can both consult and incorporate when creating services
The Government of Catalonia launched the Dades Obertes gencat website, which will allow users to access a wide variety of public information provided by the Government of Catalonia. This new web portal is part of the Government of Catalonia’s Open Data Project, an initiative which concretizes the Government’s commitment to open government and transparent administration.

Recently websites lacunched based on the Open Data from Trafford Council including the Trafford Open Data Maps site and the Trafford Supplier Spend site. Trafford then released the data of the Council Tax bands each of the 90,000+ properties in Trafford and I had to map that, it’s such juicy data! more

One year ago, San Francisco mayor Gavin Newsom issued an executive order directing the city’s departments to make their data public. Yesterday, the city’s board of supervisors turned that order into law. As far as we could establish, this is the first time any city in the U.S. has implemented an open data law. But given that other jurisdictions often follow San Francisco’s lead in this space, it’s likely not the last.
